Serving Kingston and surrounding areas

Dr. Borsuk’s clinic at 770 Broadview Avenue, Ottawa, provides care to Kingston residents approximately 2 hours away via Highway 401 and 416 — accessible from Kingston, Gananoque, Westbrook, Amherstview, and Bath.

Many Kingston patients find the drive worthwhile for hospital-based care and board-certified expertise, and some coordinate an overnight stay in Ottawa around surgery and initial recovery.

A closer option: consultation or surgery in Winchester

All surgery already takes place at Winchester District Memorial Hospital, located in the town of Winchester — which is actually closer to Kingston than the Ottawa clinic, roughly 1.5 hours via Highway 401 and Highway 31, versus about 2 hours to Ottawa. For Kingston-area patients, a consultation and/or the surgery itself can take place in Winchester instead of Ottawa — whichever location works out more conveniently for you. This can be discussed and arranged when you book.

Understanding weight loss and excess skin

After losing 40+ pounds through any method — lifestyle change, pregnancy, bariatric surgery, or GLP-1 medications — skin may not retract naturally. This is a biological outcome, not a personal shortcoming. Once collagen and elastin fibres are permanently damaged by stretching, no amount of exercise, topical treatment, or additional weight loss can remove the excess skin — surgical removal is the only effective solution.

What cannot remove excess skin

Additional weight loss · strength training or exercise · topical creams or serums · non-surgical skin-tightening treatments. Surgical removal, performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon, remains the only effective option.

Why Kingston patients choose this practice

Hospital-based surgical safety at Winchester District Memorial Hospital with an anesthetist and full emergency capability — not a private surgical suite. Every surgical plan is tailored to your anatomy, skin quality, and weight-loss history rather than a one-size-fits-all template, with a full year of follow-up care after surgery.

Frequently asked questions

How far is Kingston from the clinic?

The Ottawa clinic is approximately 2 hours via Highway 401 and 416. However, since surgery is performed at Winchester District Memorial Hospital, and Winchester itself is closer to Kingston (roughly 1.5 hours via Highway 401 and Highway 31), your consultation and/or surgery can take place in Winchester instead — whichever is more convenient for you. Some patients still choose to coordinate an overnight stay in Ottawa around surgery.

Does insurance cover excess skin removal?

Panniculectomy may be covered by OHIP if documented medical complications exist (chronic infections, mobility limitations). Cosmetic body contouring is not covered. The office can help provide documentation for insurance review.

Will excess skin go away on its own?

No. Once skin has been stretched beyond its elasticity for an extended period, the structural proteins are permanently damaged and cannot retract naturally. Surgical removal is the only effective solution.

How long should my weight be stable before surgery?

Generally at least 6–12 months, to ensure your body has reached a stable baseline and results won’t be compromised by further weight change.

Your next step

A consultation ($180 + tax, credited toward your procedure if you proceed within 6 months) is a 45–60 minute one-on-one meeting: a review of your weight-loss history and current health, a physical examination and skin quality assessment, a personalized surgical plan and timing discussion, and a transparent cost breakdown.
